The background color of the camera recording should be glowing orange. This indicates that your finger is placed correctly over the camera lens and blocking out any external light. If you see green or black, it means that your finger is not covering the lens completely and light is leaking in, which can affect the quality of the recording.
To ensure the best quality recording, follow these steps:
Apply only gentle pressure on the lens with your finger. Pressing too hard on the lens can actually impede blood flow and make it harder to detect your pulse. Try to use about as much pressure as the phone would have resting your phone on your fingertip.
Make sure your finger covers the whole lens with good skin contact. Covering the lens completely with your fingertip avoids any external light disrupting the recording and ensures a good view of fingertip blood flow.
Check the background color in the preview. It should be a bright, glowing orange. The quality meter will read “Weak Pulse Strength” if your finger is not covering the lens.If you continue to have trouble, please visit the help section in OptiBP, go to ”Help” in the “three bar” utility menu in the upper left of the app interface. On the Help Screen, select “How to Use OptiBP.” You will find a section titled “Find and Cover the lens.” You will be able to practice covering your finger in the correct position over the lens.
